I've been an indie game developer for 3 years. And now I'm applying for jobs in the industry because I hated working from home. Often times I get asked in interviews about how much do I want my salary to be. I usually go, well, I did some research and this is how much a Tools Programmer gains. etc. Do you think that's a good way to estimate the salary? -- should I consider other things, like if a company is big and successful I ask for more? or should I go with whatever is sufficient for me? but at that point I could be selling myself less.
For example, there's this nice guy I met who's building his own small studio, I would like to work for him but I'm not sure if I should ask of him the same amount I would ask from, say Ubisoft or whatever because he's building himself up and probably won't be able to afford a 80k or something.
